The first difference between PRF and PRP is the processing technique. PRP is spun in the centrifuge at a very high speed which separates the blood plasma layer completely. In contrast, due to a slower spin rate, some stem cells, white blood cells, and fibrin are retained in the platelet layer with PRF.

In addition, no anticoagulants or additives of any kind are used in PRF. This results in the presence of a fibrin matrix that allows the platelets to release growth factors at a slower rate for more sustained, gradual, and thus longer-lasting results. PRP releases its growth factors quickly because the anticoagulants prevent this fibrin matrix. Finally, the way these treatments are used is slightly different. While PRP is effective for less severe lines and wrinkles, it is not ideal for deep lines or hollow areas.
