Before your treatment, we will cleanse the injection site. Sculptra contains a numbing agent called lidocaine to provide maximum comfort.
Dr. Vasanwala will use a very fine needle to inject Sculptra into the deep dermis, and the PLLA will steadily encourage the body to restart the production of collagen. The number of injection appointments and the number of injections per appointment are determined by the volume of collagen loss in each patient. Typically, treatments consist of three appointments over the course of a few months.
If possible, you should avoid taking blood thinners, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, for at least one week before treatment. You should also avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment.
Sculptra results are not instantaneous but will gradually appear over the course of several months.
You may see some initial swelling and bruising at the injection sites, but this typically resolves within a week.
